Valentine comes from a middle class family, no brothers or sisters and grew up pretty jaded by the easy lifestyle hitting the streets to pick fights and steal and do anything to bring him some danger and fun, this continued throughout his life leading up into his final year in college after attaining his degree in forensic anthropology. The reason he stopped being such a delinquent and started to straighten up was his first love, a girl he met who pushed him to finish college and be a better person, until she cheated on him. Then on, he started acting chivalrous and polite and his goal in life became to find true love.

After graduation he tried to apply his degree, but felt no museum or investigations unit really needed his craft, so he’d work for a month and then he’d quit, until it became so that no one wanted to hire him because he’d been known for quitting.
Unable to find a job he stumbled upon Litetower through an utterance after being rejected from a position. The utterance was enough for Goggles to do research into the Litetower,and not finding much, he burst into the front door and demanded he be hired and ranting about how he's a top forensic anthropologist and he could find some way to apply his know-how. Taken aside, he was explained what the Litetower was and whether or not he was open to the idea of the paranormal. With virtually no insight into the paranormal he hoped that maybe his ability to feel "the tingle" as he called it, would be enough.
Regarding "the tingle", as a young boy Goggles and a few of his friends tried an Ouija board and every time they asked for a spirit the board would answer "no". After that day, Goggles would feel a tingle which he felt meant there was an apparition nearby.
